    'Lying Under the Mound' is a story of young man by the name Yuthufu. It opens with Yuthufu dreaming of his own death and burial. On waking up, he realizes that it was a dream and that he is in hospital after sustaining injuries during his wedding ceremony. In between the dream and his wedding, we see his struggles as he moves from one job to another and from town to town. The turn around in his life comes on meeting Jenny, an English girl over the internet. She visits him in Kenya but soon after her departure, his two local girl friends dies in mysterious circumstances. He suspects that Jenny is involved and makes an investigative journey to London. He finds out that Jenny is involved in black magic.Jenny passes away three years later but her powers are still potent. Her apparition appears during his wedding ceremony. Surprised, Yuthufu faints and sustains injury which leads to his hospitalization. It comes to a close with the repeated wedding.

She thinks that her father is joking when he tells her that this former MP rides a matatu like any other Kenyan.
